Water Pollution

  • X. D
  1. Economic Consequences

    • Businesses that make their money based on water attractions such as Cruises and whale watching would not be able to make their money anymore because the water around them is not attractive for customers
      • People wont be able to see the world around them because these buisnesses have closed down
    • Cleaning out all the chemicals and garbage in the water is very expensive because water is everywhere and takes up huge masses. Equiptment will be very expensive also.
      • Cleaning polluted water in lakes, oceans, or ponds will distract the life of organisms that live there
    • Fishing indutries wont be able to run in polluted water because of the limited amount of space for boats to move and fishes that may have been affected by the pollution
      • A large amount of money will be lost. People wont be able to eat seafood anymore.
  2. Personal Consequences

    • Water literally keeps me alive. 60% of my body is made of water. With in accessible clean water, I will get health problems or even die
      • With Health Problems and Death come to really expensive medical bills and money is not easily accessed in my life
    • The look of polluted water is ugly. I wouldn’t want to live near bodies of water anymore
      • Moving to a new place that doesn’t have polluted water is super hard since 70% of the Earths land is made of water. It is also very expensive
    • Seeing people and animals die all around me because of the polluted water will make me sad
      • Sadness and Depression will maybe cause me to need to be hospitalized
    • The beach is one of my favourite places to be. I get to swim, enjoy the warm weather and sand, and play beach volleyball. With the polluted water at beaches, I wouldn’t be able to go anymore
  3. Legal and ethical Consequences

    • The "Clean Water act" was established in 1972 which regulates the amount of pollution in which is put into the water
      • This act "regulates" the amount of pollution that is put into water bodies. Regulating means limiting the amount of pollution that is out into water thus pollution seems to still be allowed in the water but in small amounts when there shouldn't be any at all.
    • "Environmental Permits" allows people to dump pollution into waters. Obviously a person must be in a large organization to be able to to this or have a REALLY good reason as to why they are doing this
      • There shouldn't be permits AT ALL to be able to do this because putting pollution into water shouldn't be done AT ALL
  4. Social Consequences

    • Heath care will be needed with people who get exposed to polluted water. Diseases such as shigellosis and cholera.
      • Health care will get really expensive because water provides for billions of people and if it is polluted, then there will be more people needing healthcare
    • Sanitation will be very limited. Water is key to sanitation for everyone around the world. Water is needed to wash hands and take showers
      • With people using polluted to clean themselves, diseases in the water can be contracted
    • People won't be going outside near water bodies anymore if the water is polluted. It is not safe and not phyicically attractive
      • People isolating themselves is not healthy for their lives because it restrians themsleves from living life and developing relationships
  5. Scientific Consequences

    • We have only discovered 5% of the ocean. With pollution effecting the water, the process of discovering more of the ocean will go slower and slower
      • Children in schools are going to be stuck with the same information about the aquatic animals in the ocean. Kids love learning about the new things people discover.
    • As the organisms start to die because of the polluted water, biology wont be able to happen in classes and for scientist because the the animals are dying
  6. Environmental Consequences

    • Distruction of Habitats will occur. Water is a huge part of the habitats of both terrestrial and aquatic animals
      • Aquatic Animals such as fishes and dolphins literally live in water. With polluted water, they won't have space to swim and reproduce
      • Terrestrial Animals live around water bodies. These animals use these water bodies to wash themselves, bond with other animals, to drink from, and hunt. With polluted water, these animals would not be able to to any of these
    • Issues with Food Chains. Water plays a huge role in the food chains of environments. With polluted water, the food chain can collapse.
      • Animals can die from dehydration because of the lack of clean water.
        • Decomposers will go crazy over dead organisms
      • The death of aquatic animals because of the polluted water around them can cause over population of producers and the death of 2nd order consumers and higher
