1.2 Memory
Flash Memory
- flash memory is an absence of turned off power supply
- flash memory is a non voltile storage just like
- for an example a memory stick is a form of flash memory
- flash memory is an absence of turned off power supply
Cache
- cache only has a small storage but is very easy to acsess
- cache doesnt have much storage
- but is easy to access most commonly used instructions
- cache is fastest memory and inside the cpu
- the cpu is made of cache, cores and clock speed
- measured in mega hertz
- or giga hertz
- measured in mega hertz
- the cpu is made of cache, cores and clock speed
Virtual memory
- Virtual memory is needed to let more memory in then there is available in the system
- disk thrashing
- when the virtual memory is in a constant state of paging
- this will exchange data in memory and may cause a damage in the computer or it collapsing
- when the virtual memory is in a constant state of paging
- disk thrashing
- is located on the hard drive
- virtual memory is an area of secondary storage that is used like RAM
- When the hard drive is full you can no longer do things such as copy and paste
- Virtual memory is needed to let more memory in then there is available in the system
Solid state
- A solid state is faster than a hard disk because it has no latency and no movement
- This means its built in the system in the computer
- Because it has no Movement its hard to hack
- like rom its non voltile and thats one reason why its hard to hack
- A solid state is faster than a hard disk because it has no latency and no movement
RAM
- RAM stands for random acsess memory and it can be acsessed at any time as long as you dont turn power of before you save coming back to the voltile point
- RAM is main memory and is found in most computers and is the most common storage found in computers
- Because RAM is really good and is found in most computers the price of it goes up significantly.
- Voltile means When power is turned off the computer gets emptied
- RAM is voltile so when the power is turned off all is emptied
ROM
- Voltile means When power is turned off the computer gets emptied
- RAM is voltile so when the power is turned off all is emptied
- ROM is not main memory and is not built into the system it does carry sofware like the BIOS so the computer can get turned on
- ROM needs to be non voltile because its not alowed to forget about the BIOS and if it does the computer cant turn on
- ROM is not built into the system like RAM, even though its not built in its still really hard to hack
- ROM stands for read only memory and thats why its hard to hack and because it only reads its possible to hack but very hard to
- Voltile means When power is turned off the computer gets emptied
