Input devices
Microphones
- acoustic-to-electric transducer or sensor that converts sound in air into an electrical signal. Microphones are used in many applications such as telephones
- Microphones can change the sound of your voice
Keyboards
- It is represented as a layout of buttons. Each button, or key, can be used to either input a linguistic character to a computer, or to call upon a particular function of the computer.
- The use of any keyboard may cause serious injury to hands, wrists, arms, neck or back. Also some keyboards were found to contain five times more germs than a toilet seat
Mouse
- Mouses are the most commonly used input devices today. A mouse allows a user to input spatial data to a computer, this is achieved by detecting movement across a physical surface.
- If you are using your mouse on a bad surface, the mouse might not work. Also if the optical portion of the mouse is blocked, the mouse will not work even if it is blocked by a peice of hair.
Scanner
- device that copies part of an image at a time, printed text, handwriting, or an object, and converts it to a digital image.
- The quality of the image may not be as good as the quality of the original picture.
Joysticks
- A joystick allows an individual to move an object in a game such as navigating a plane in a flight simulator.
- Joysticks can cause serious injurys to your wrist
Webcams
- A webcam is a video camera that feeds or streams its image in real time through a computer.
- Many users do not wish the continuous exposure for which webcams were originally intended, but rather prefer privacy. Such privacy is lost when Trojan horse programs allow malicious hackers to activate the webcam without the user's knowledge
Digital Camera
- A digital camera is a camera that encodes digital images and videos digitally and stores them for later reproduction. Most cameras sold today are digital, and digital cameras are in many devices such as mobile phones and vehicles.
- You must have free space in your memory card or you will not be able to save your pictures, videos in your camera.
Finger Print scanner
- Fingerprint recognition or fingerprint authentication refers to the automated method of verifying a match between two human fingerprints. Fingerprints are one of many forms of biometrics used to identify individuals and verify their identity.
Barcode reader
- A barcode reader is an electronic device for reading printed barcodes, like a flatbed scanner, it consists of a light source, a lens and a light sensor translating optical impulses into electrical ones.
- If the barcode on the product is not neatly done, the barcode reader may not read it or get anything out of it.
Microsoft kinect sensor
- A line of motion sensing input devices by Microsoft for Xbox 360 and Xbox One video game consoles and Windows PCs. Based around a webcam-style add-on peripheral, it enables users to control and interact with their console/computer without the need for a game controller, through a natural user interface using gestures and spoken commands.
- Kinect regularly misinterprets voice commands and Kinect’s gesture recognition system doesn’t work as it should. This is a particularly big problem since Microsoft has made Kinect an integral feature of its console and it can seriously hinder your enjoyment of it when not working well.
