Input and Output Devices
1. Input devices
  1. Without input devices, you wouldn't be able to access anything on your computer
  2. The most suitable input devices for a range of computer controlled situations include : keyboards,mice,touch screens and a barcode reader
2. Output devices
  1. Without output devices, you wouldn't be able to see what you are doing, and you wouldn't have fans or any other external components
  2. The most suitable output devices for a wide range of computer controlled situations include : monitors,laser printers,ink-jet printers and speakers
C.P.U
1. what a C.P.U looks like

2. Clock speed
  1. The rate of which the C.P.U is running
  2. Measured in hertz

  1. Reduces the average time to access information from the main memory

  1. The Fetch, Decode, Execute cycle
Memory
1. Stores and 'remembers' things
2. Different types of memory- some slower but cheaper, and vice versa
3. R.O.M
  1. Non-Volatile
  2. Stands for Read Only Memory
4. R.A.M
  1. Stands for Random Access Memory
  2. R.A.M is Volatile
5. Flash Memory
  1. Non-Volatile
  2. Commonly used storage system
6. Virtual Memory
  1. A portion of the hard drive that helps R.A.M
  2. Compensates for R.A.M
Binary
1. The computer code which represents the computers 'language'
  1. Consists of 0's and 1's
    1. Code makes up 'bit strings' which enables values to correspond to different letters, numbers, and symbols
2. How to convert denary numbers into binary
3. How to work out hexadecimal numbers
