1. Carbon atoms in polymer chains are linked by strong covalent bonds.

2. Polymer chains are either linked together by weak intermolecular bonds or strong covalent bonds.

3. Goretex

   • Goretex is a waterproof but breathable fabric.
   • Goretex is a laminate of nylon and PTFE layers.
   • The holes in Goretex are big enough to let water vapour out but are too small to let raindrops in.

4. Polymers with strong intermolecular bonds are covertly bonded together. They do not melt they only burn. The chains can not be broken daily so they cannot slide over one another.

5. Polymers with weak intermolecular bonds can slide over one another, you can reshape them and you can melt them. Has a high melting point.

6. Not all polymers are recyclable which means they have to either be buried in landfill sites or burned.
