     • The main memory system that holds all the data and programs. All data is wiped from the RAM and backed up here after the computer is turned off

3. Purpose of an Operating System

   • The operating system is the most important component of the computer, it controls all of the components and it allows all of the programs to run
   • It is also responsible for the security of the device.
   • It is also responsible for memory manegment
     • Which is keeping track of all the storage devices and controlling which programs are able to access which area of memory.
