Computer Performance
Cache
- Cache is a temporary storage area that has copies of data, this is volatile
- Cache is used in the CPU (Central Processing Unit) in a computer to access data from the main memory
- Cache is used because main storage can't keep up with all the demands of cache
RAM
- RAM (Random Access Memory) is a type of computer storage that can be accessed randomly
- RAM is the memory in a computer that is used to store running programs for the program
- RAM is the hardware in a computer that when data is being used is kept so they can quickly be reached
Cores
- A core processor is a chip with independent units called cores
- Cores are parts of the CPU that receives instructions and performs calculations
- The CPU has multiple cores and if you have a 2 cores it will be called a dual-core
Clock Speed
- The clock speed in a CPU is measured in hertz generally in gigahertz
- The speed is measured in gigahertz which is the speed of a single core of your processors
- The CPU requires a fixed amount of clock ticks or clock cycles to execute each individual instruction
