D.T - Problem Analysis

1. Cost

   • The price tag on this table will range around £30 - £50 pounds because this table will be a revolutionary idea to all the manufactures and therefore increasing the price.

2. Materials

   • Pine Wood
     • Pine Wood, is a very durable, yet cheap type of wood. It is used in many furniture products because of it's light and strong properties.
   • Alluminium
     • Alluminium, is a cheap, light and strong metal which is suitable for nearly all purposes. I am going to use alluminium as support for a possible storage shelf under the table.
   • Frosted Glass
     • I'm going to use Frosted Glass for the table. This will give the lights, a 'dim - glow' effect making the atmosphere more tranquil.
   • ALL, the materials used are specially selected to be as durable and sturdy as possible. Giving this product, a long lasting life.

3. Market

   • In the UK, there is a huge gap in the market for a table that is both useful, and visually appealing. The fact that this table has its own light source, will give a unique selling point, that will aid in the selling of the product. The table will also be cost effective and as efficient as possible.
   • Target Market
     • The Target for this market, varies from all ages. This table can be used by everyone and anyone. It's easy light switch and aesthically appealing finish will allow anybody to use this product with ease.

4. Size

   • Although not finalised at this stage, the rough ratio of length : width : height is going to be similar to 800 mm : 400 mm : 400 mm. This size although being a rough thought, is careful put together. It is neither too big, nor too small. This welcomes more costumers towards the product.

5. Colour

   • Although this may vary from person to person, after conducting a survey, 89% of the people suggested that they liked a lighter shade of wod rather than a darker shade. They also agreed, that they would prefer a table that was simple in design and not too fancy.

6. Utility

   • This table, is specially designed, to be both for show and use. It can be used for having a small snack and for storing small items underneath. The table is made with a small shelf underneath the light display. This shelf is cleverly thought of as it supports the legs of the table and supplies the user ample space for storage.

7. Sustainablilty

   • The lights in this product, are all battey powered and can be replaced very easily. This table, will be very energy efficient product as this can run 30 - 50 hours straight on 2 AA batteries.

8. Health and Safety

   • This product will be very safe and will come in no small pieces that may be hazardous to those under the age of 3. In fact, the corners of this table may be slightly rounded for extra saftey.
