1. Impact printers:

2. Non-impact printers:

   • Characters/graphics are printed without actually contacting the paper.
     • Ink-jet printers:
       • Form characters by spraying tiny drops of liquid ink onto the paper.
     • Laser printers:
       • Prints with a high-speed, high-quality with either color or black and white.
     • All-in-one printers:
       • A single devices that prints, scans, copies and faxes.
         • RICOH and XEROX are few of famous brand.
           • Known as multi-function printer (MFP)
     • Photo printers:
       • Produces lab-quality pictures which many uses ink-jet technology.
         • PictBridge/Selphy by Canon allows users to print directly from a digital camera/memory card etc.
     • Thermal printers:
       • Generate images by pushing electrically heated pins against heat-sensitive printers.
         • Normally used by printing shops to make printing faster/Printing on cards.
     • Mobile printers:
       • Handheld printers (small, lightweight, battery-powered).
         • Allows mobile user to print from a mobile devices.
     • Plotters:
       • Used to produce high-quality drawings e.g.: printing banners.
     • Large format printers:
       • Creates photo-realistic quality color prints especially for banners
     • Label printers:
       • Small printer that prints on an adhesive-type material or card-stock (tags).
