1. Operating Systems (OS)

   • The system responsible for managing and controlling all the hardware.
     • Task and Memory Management
       • It is the part responsible for runninng multiple pieces of software at once, like an niternet browser, a game, etc.
     • Security Management
       • The OS provides security by requesting multiple autentications with usernames and passwords, it also manages the user's files and keeps them safe from other users.
     • User Interface
       • The OS always provides the user with an interface to interact with and operate the computer. They usaually are Command LindeInterfaces or Graphical User Interface.
     • Communicating with Harware
       • The OS controls all hardware devides, such as the hard disk, printers and screens. It does this transparently, for example, when the user saves a file, when he opens it, he does not have to know where it is located, he just has to click on the file's name to open it.

2. Utility Software

   • Basic software with "housekeeping" tasks, which help maintain and manage the computer
     • Encryption
       • Secures files, folders and disks in the event of theft or loss of hte computer
     • Disk Clean Up
       • Detects and deletes unneeded files, such as temporary files created by some apps, that have built up over time.
     • Anti-Virus Software
       • Used to detect and remove malicious software such as viruses, Trojan Horses and spyware
     • Compression Software
       • Used to compress files to save disk space or ner¿twork bandwidth, and decompress them again
     • Disk Defragmentation
       • Optimises hard disk performance by arranging files in contiguous sectors
     • Backup Programs
       • Used to compress and backup important files
     • System Monitoring
       • Monitors system resources such as processor and memory usage to optimises them to improve performance
     • Accessibility Options
       • Sets Options for disabled users, such as increased font size and higher contrast
     • System Updates
       • Updates the operating system with the latest security and performance patches teleased by the creators

3. Application Software

   • It's the software that allows the user to solve problems with different tools
     • Word Processing Software
       • Allows the creation of typed documents. It has features optimised for text creation, such as spelling check and language tools.
     • Desktop Publishing Software
       • Allows the creation of leaflets, borchures and much more. It is alowas more control over the page than any word processing software.
     • Presentation Software
       • It focuses the creation of slides for verbal presentations, and is usually used by bussiness workers and teachers. It usually revolves around a serries of text bullet-points and one or more images
     • Spreadshhet Software
       • It is used to perform tasks that involve calculations, such as managing finances or grades. Spreadsheets divide a worksheet into a grid of cells labeled with letters and numbers
     • Graphics Software
       • It is used to create or edit digital images. They allow the creation of images by drawing individual pixels and shapes, more advanced ones allow for 3D rendering, whecan be given texture and lighting
