Structures

  1. They are capable of carrying the load they were designed for without collapsing.

    • Types of stuctures
      • Frames
        • Bars joined together to make a framework. They are used to make structures in an economic way.
          • Forces in Frame structures
            • Structures should be able to withstand all the forces it will experience without collpasing or loosing stability at all Moments.
            • Beams
              • Any member that has to resist bending is called Beam. They are great when we are gonna build a bridge.
              • Cantilevers: Beams that is only supported at one end. When it is required to carry a large load, bending moments should be taken into account
    • Stability
      • A structure that won't fall or topple has stability.
        • For this, we need to make sure that our structure is on the centre of gravity.
          • in physics, an imaginary point in a body of matter where, for convenience in certain calculations, the total weight of the body may be thought to be concentrated.
