1. Aim: Does the critical word affect the subsequent memory of the event they witnessed.

2. Partipants: 150 students (3 groups)

3. Procedure: They were show a video of a car accident and then were asked question.

4. Group 1: Had the word smashed

5. Group 2: Had the word Hit

6. Group 3: Asked about the speed (control)

7. Participants were asked to return a week later and were asked more questions. One question was about broken glass.

8. Results: The smashed condition tend to think there was glass.
