CRYPTOGRAPHY
Deals with encryption or scrambling techniques intended to alter the linguistic representations of certain messages
- In order to make them unintelligible to unauthorized recipients
Objectives
- Confidentiality
- That is, it guarantees that the information is accessible only to authorized personnel.
- Integrity
- That is, it guarantees the correctness and completeness of the information
- Bonding
- Allows you to link a document or transaction to a person or an automated cryptographic management system
- Authentication
- That is, it provides mechanisms that allow verifying the identity of the communicator
- Solutions to problems of the lack of simultaneity in the digital tele-signature of contracts
- Confidentiality
Terminology
- Symmetric cryptography
- It groups together those cryptographic functionalities that rely on the use of a single key.
- Public key cryptography or asymmetric cryptography
- Groups those cryptographic functionalities that are supported by the use of key pairs composed of a public key, which is used to encrypt, and by a private key, which is used to decrypt.
- Threshold cryptography
- Groups those cryptographic functionalities that rely on the use of a threshold of participants from which the action can be performed.
- Identity-based cryptography.
- It is a type of asymmetric cryptography that is based on the use of identities.
