   • ppts listed acoustically similar words and a list of semantically similar words. more errors were found from the acoustically similar words on immediate recall, but that more errors were made from the semantic condition when recall was delayed for 20mins.

5. studies have shown we remember words because of primacy effect and regency effect. studies of amnesiacs show that ltm and stm work seperatley. been criticised as an oversimplification because it has a single stm and single ltm. lab experiments are used and therefore tell us little about how memory works in real life.
