Line Ups

1. simultaneous line up

   • witness is presented with all members of the line up at the same time.
   • A relative judgement is used- the witness chooses the person most like their memory o the perpetrator
     • this leads to a greater chance of false identifications as there is doubt on the reliability of the witness
   • used most

2. sequential line up

   • members of the line up are presented one at a time
     • an absolute judgement must be made for each individual (yes or no)
       • less risk of false identification, but may escape conviction due to needing an absolute judgement
