1. Characteristics

   • Language: they use a specialized terminology or vocabulary, typical of each specific area
   • Objectivity: they seek to convey to the reader aspects of reality approached with methodical rigor.
   • Clarity: knowledge is communicated clearly and precisely with a clean and orderly syntax
   • Formality: presented and exposed in a formal registry of deed

2. Structure

   • 1° An objective: the reason must be to communicate a new contribution or discovery
   • 2° A title: the objective of the topic must be included in the title, which must be written in English and in the author's language
   • 3° The journal of publication: the publication data of the specialized journal in which the article was previously published
   • 4° The name of the author: the author and contributors
   • 5° The abstract: The synthesis of the article must be in both English and the author's language and must mention the objectives, methods used for the research, results and conclusion
   • 6° The keywords: the abstract ends with some words that work as guides to deduce, quickly and clearly, the essential points of the investigation
   • 7° The body of the article: the development of the text organized in introduction, development of the methods applied in the investigation, the results and the conclusion
   • 8° The sources: the bibliography and the specialized resources that were consulted for the research, should be cited at the end of the article

3. What are they?

   • They are specialized texts that provide scientific information following a set of academic standards
   • Addresses an expert or knowledgeable reader on the subject
   • They endorse and disseminate the investigations carried out by specialists
   • The purpose of the disseminated investigations should be to reveal the truth and not to agree with someone
