Programming Language Features

1. Input Statement

   • A statement used to capture data which is to be used in the program.
   • DayOfWeek = Console.ReadLine()

2. Constant

   • Example: float dollarExch = 1.23
   • A named location in memory used to hold data that remains the same when a program is running.. When declaring a constant it must be given a NAME and a TYPE.

3. Variable

   • Example: int age
   • A named location in memory used to hold data and can change when a program is running.. When declaring a variable it must be given a NAME and a TYPE.

4. Arithmetic Operator

   • Example: total / 5
   • Enables arithetic operations to be carried out on vairables: operators inc +, - ,*, / %

5. Boolean Operator

   • An operator that allows conditions to be combined and then evaluated: the outcome is a boolean variable.
   • AND && OR ||

6. Output Statement

   • A statement used to output data and information from the program.
   • Console.WriteLine(age)

7. Assignment Statement

   • A statement that assigns a value to a variable, constant or other data structure: the value on the right hand side can contain a calculation.
   • averageTime = totalTime / 5
