1. Factors that effect the performance of the computer system

   • number of cores
     • This effects the performance because ethe computer will have to fetch decode and execute more instructions at the same time
   • Clock Speed
     • This is how fast the computer completes the cycles
   • Bandwidth
     • they can overload your network, causing network speed to slow down if you had too many devices connected to the same network
   • cache size
     • This effects the performance because the frequently uses instructions will be able to he stored at a convenient place for the cpu to fetch²
   • Old or fragmented hard drives
     • This means that the disk drives will be split across the storage system making the cpu needing to search for all of the pieces in the storage therefore taking more time and capacity

2. client-server networks

   • when the client computer sends a request for data to the server through the internet, the server accepts the requested process and deliver the data packets requested back to the client
     • advantages
       • Generally more secure than peer-to-peer networks.
       • One client computer crashing does not effect the other computers
       • Easier to recover files as backups can be controlled centrally by the network administrator
       • Files and resources are easier to share and control from server.
     • disadvantages
       • The main disadvantage of a client-server model is the danger of a system overload owing to a lack of resources to service all of the clients
