STATISCAL MEASURES
Measures of dispersion
- They indicate how far the data is from the arithmetic mean.
- Variance coefficient
- Determines the ratio between the standard deviation and the mean.
- Typical deviation
- The standard deviation is the square root of the mean of the squares of the deviation scores.
- Variance coefficient
- They indicate how far the data is from the arithmetic mean.
Range
- Indicates the dispersion between the extreme values of a variable
Variance
- It is used to measure the dispersion of the values of a variable with respect to the measurement
Measures of central tendency
- They are measures that aim to summarize in a single value to a set of values, some of these measures are:
- Average
- The sum of all data divided by the total amount of data.
- Medium
- It is the data that occupies the central position of all the data ordered by magnitude.
- Fashion
- This is the most frequently repeated variable.
- Average
- They are measures that aim to summarize in a single value to a set of values, some of these measures are:
The analysis of a characteristic or quality of the individual. These present exhaustive and mutually exclusive modalities.
- Depending on the type of quality, the characteristics may be of type:
- Qualitative characteristics: That is, if its modalities are not numerical. An example is the marital status.
- Quantitative characteristics, if their modalities are numerical. An example, the number of members of a family.
- Depending on the type of quality, the characteristics may be of type:
position measurements
- Measures of position are generally called quantiles and are classified into four groups: quartiles, quintiles, deciles, percentiles.
- Deciles
- Refers to each of the 10 values that divide a group of data into 10 equal parts.
- The percentile is a measure of position used to find the value of the variable that is found in a given percentage in observations of a group.
- With this formula.
- k*n/10=1,2,3....8,9
- k:decil number n:number demonstrates.
- k*n/10=1,2,3....8,9
- With this formula.
- The percentile is a measure of position used to find the value of the variable that is found in a given percentage in observations of a group.
- Refers to each of the 10 values that divide a group of data into 10 equal parts.
- The Cuartiles
- These are the three values of the variable that divides it into four equal parts, to calculate the value of one of the four quartiles the formula is used:
- Qk=k(n/4)
- Qk= cuartil number and n=Total distribution data.
- Qk=k(n/4)
- These are the three values of the variable that divides it into four equal parts, to calculate the value of one of the four quartiles the formula is used:
- Deciles
- Measures of position are generally called quantiles and are classified into four groups: quartiles, quintiles, deciles, percentiles.
