Developer Environment

1. Backend Components

   • Database
     • SQLite
       • A light weight database that can be used to store information locally on a device, or data that needs to be accessed quickly such as user logins
   • Application
     • Python
       • Used to write the backend of the website as it can handle requests to and from the frontend, intereact with data, and communicate with the external data source
     • Flask
       • A lightweight web framework that allows python to build web applications quickly. It will be responsible for connecting the frontend, backend, and external components togeather, allowing it to handle requests, as it can make API calls to the external data source to retrieve data
     • Thonny
       • Thonny is an integrated development environment (IDE) that can be used to write, test, and debug python code efficiently. It will be used to write and test the python code to test the backend functionality of retrieving and processing the Barbie data

2. Front End Components

   • User Interface
     • Html
       • Is used to create the structure of the website that users can interact with to make easy to use and visually appealing. This could include the structure for displaying information, displaying pictures, and additional details
     • Css
       • Is used to style the Html, such as the colours, fonts, and layouts to ensure the website has a finished look that aligns with the theme of Barbie
     • Javascript
       • Adds interactivity to the website as it is able to respond to user interactions such as button clicks, which allows the website to be interactive

3. External Components

   • An external Barbie data source (API), that provides raw data about the Barbies, such as their Career, Year and Career type. The APIs will provide access to up to date information about the Barbies
