Registaration System

1. Paper Based

   • Advantage- If computers crash, then registers wont be affected.
   • Use- AM/PM marked register on paper
   • Disadvantage- If left unattend they can be changed by students.

2. Keyboard Entry

   • Use- Register on a computer, stored by a central server and taken by the teacher.
   • Advantages- Easier to produce attendance statistics.
   • Disadvantage- Teachers are required to register students

3. Optical Mark Recognition

   • Use- Students shade in abox if present
   • Advantages- More value for money
   • Disadvantage- Latecomers would not be registered.

4. Smart Cards

   • Use- Cards contaning computer chips for students to sign themselves in.
   • Advantages- Provide multiple functions, eg. payment cards and library loans
   • Disadvantages- If the system was down the registration would be affected

5. Magentic Strip Cards

   • Use- Used to enable pupils to swipe into school.
   • Advantage- Affordable
   • Disadvatage- Pupils can swipe in other people who arent present and cards can be easily lost or forgotten

6. Biometric

   • Use- Pupils scan there fingerprints or eyes to login.
   • Advantage- Pupils dont have to remeber cards, it is impossible for other students to log other people in.
   • Disadvantage- Expensive option, some parents worry about fingerprints
