Machine code
- Made up of 'operation code' and 'memory address'
- Operation code is the part of machine code that specifies what to do with the data.
- Memory address is the part of the code where the data is read from and written to.
- The CPU can only understand machine code, all other coding languages have to be translated into machine code
- The data is translated by programs called compilers or assemblers
- machine code is specific to the CPU.
- Made up of 'operation code' and 'memory address'
Compiler
- Converts the source code into machine code so that it can be executed as a stand alone program file. It converts the code in one go.
Translator
- Converts high level code into low level code.
