1. Validation

   • Presence Check
     • Makes sure data has been entered in a field e.g. name
   • Format Check
     • Making sure something is in the correct format e.g. date DD/MM/YYYY
   • Length Check
     • Checks that something so many letters/numbers long e.g. phone number
   • Range Check
     • Checks that entered data is between certain things e.g. age between 0-150

2. Data Protection Act

   • Data Subject
     • The person who's information is being held
   • Data Controller
     • The person who enforces the DPA
   • Data User
     • Someone who views the data of others

   • Enters raw data into the computer
