Fractions
To divide a fraction by a whole number you have to divide the bottom number and the whole number. E.g 4/5 divided by 8, You would then multiply 5 and 8. Then overall get to 4/40.
To multiply fractions you have to do exactly what it tells you. Multiply the top and then the bottom.
To simply divide a fraction you have to leave the first fraction the same and then flip the second fraction and turn the divide sign to a multiplication sign. For example: 4/11 divided by 4/11. You would put 4/11 multiplied by 11/4
equivalent fractions can be found by multiplying or dividing both parts of the fraction by the same number.
Multiplying and fraction by a number: 1/4 of 20. You have to divide 20/4=5 and then 5x1=4
Mixed numbers and improper fractions. To convert an improper fraction to a mixed number, we need to divide the numerator by the denominator. For example, 5/3 we see how many 3's fit into 5? 1, the remainder is 2/3
Adding and subtracting fractions, you have to make sure the denominator is the same. To do this you have to find the lowest common multiple. When the denominators are the same you add the numerator together.
