   • Saxons now 2nd class citizens
   • Taxation system
     • Doomsday book - First cencus
       • Listed people, property for taxation purposes
       • William died before it was finished
   • Feudal system intorduced
   • New Laws
     • Only one god worshipped throughout the land
     • All free men to swear an oath of loyalty to the king
     • No live cattle sold outside of cities
