1. Input devices are used to interact with a computer system and ouput devices are used to ouput data from the computer

   • Input Devices
     • An input device is a piece of equipment which lets users put information into a computer system
       • E.G. Typing in characters on a keyboard or recording someone singing
         • Typical input devices include:
           • Mice, Keyboard, Barcode reader, Magnetic strip reader, Light Pen, Scanner, OMR, OCR, Sensors, Webcams & Microphones
   • Output Devices
     • An output device is any device which is used to transfer the results of data processing to the user
       • E.G. listening to music or printing an essay
         • Typical output devices include:
           • Monitor, Speakers, Printer, Servomechanisms
   • Hybrid Devices
     • Provide the user with both an input and ouput
       • Typical hybrid devices include:
         • Game controllers, Laptops and Touchscreen smartphones

2. Users with Specific needs

   • Computer systems can be customised to meet the specific needs of users who are visually impaired, unable to use their hands or disabled in any other way
     • Input devices include:
       • Eye typer,Braille Keyboard & Puff-suck switch
     • Output devices include:
       • Braille printer, Text to speech & Screen Magnifiers
