      1. Exclusive to cattle via transovarian transmission
    2. Boophilus microplus
4. Infects cattle; destroys RBCs, causes bloody urine; can kill in a week
  1. Also infects deer, water buffalo, and zebu

  1. More serious in persons who have had spenectomies
    1. Fatal in 4 with splenectomies
