1. s'one with denentia has tendancy to search for mother/parent

   • confirmation of continuity of childhood attachment through out life
   • dementia = low levels of cognitive function and feeling emotionall secure so the search for their secure base
     • inappropriate to deny parents existence

2. remembering not always appropriate

   • PTSD;world war veterans/holocost survivors
     • support not always avaliable i.e of social grps who have similar experiences
       • grp support can give sense of identity and minimise feelings of isolation
         • making difficult memories a part of individuals identity
