TRANSIENT RESPONSE
The response in time of a control system is usually divided into two parts:
- Transient response
- Part of the response in time that tends to zero when the time becomes very large (∞)
- Its amplitude and duration must be kept within tolerable or prescribed limits
- Significant part of the dynamic behavior of the system
- Part of the response in time that tends to zero when the time becomes very large (∞)
- Steady state response
- Part of the total response that remains after the transient has faded
- Indicates the final accuracy of the system
- There is usually a steady state error
- The output does not exactly match the desired reference
- There is usually a steady state error
- Indicates the final accuracy of the system
- Part of the total response that remains after the transient has faded
- Transient response
Every control system presents it before reaching the steady state response. It exhibits damped oscillations before reaching its stable state.
