1.1 System Architecture

1. Processor

   • Processor speed: measured in Hertz. Processor also known as Brain of computer
     • Process data and carries out instructions. Also executes them

2. Cores

   • Processors have cores to execute instructions
     • They have multi-cores e.g Dual core, Quad core, 8 core
   • Quadrupting the number of cores may quadrupt the number of instructions per second

3. Have cache is usually very fast and also has a small amount of memory on the processor chip

4. Embedded system

   • Usually uses software and hardware
     • Doesn't have and operating system
       • Dishwasher, microwave etc
