1. What is the software?

   • The information, of all kinds, that you give to the computer to manipulate the data entry of a user

2. The Software Crisis

   • The Standish group conducted a study in 1994 in which 50,000 projects were analyzed. Of those 50,000 projects, only 16% were successful, and of that 16%, only 61% fulfilled all the promised functionality.

3. The history of the software

   • At the beginning they began to make high-level, process-oriented languages. This way of working gave more importance to processes than to data.
     • The problem was that when the form of the data had to be changed it was necessary to review all the previous structures.
       • From the synthesis between process-oriented programming and data-oriented programming, Object-Oriented Programming is born.

4. Bases of Object Oriented Programming

   • Abstraction: mental process of extracting the essential characteristics of something, ignoring the superfluous details.
   • Encapsulation: process by which support details of the essential characteristics of an abstraction are hidden.
   • Modularization: process of decomposition of a system into a set of independent and cohesive modules or parts (with their own meaning).
   • Hierarchy: structuring process by which an organization (hierarchy) of a set of elements is produced in degrees or levels of responsibility, responsibility or composition among others.
