A451: Standards for Development

1. Creating a System

   • When Creating a system, whole teams of people are employed to write code. For this, there need to be standards
   • Some standards that have been developed offer:
     • A way of Capturing what the system needs to do
     • Ways of breaking up the system into manageable chunks
     • Ways of keeping track of changed
     • Ways of allocating staff
   • There are many development methods availible

2. Waterfall Method

   • Breaks the project down into a series of timed steps like: Analyse, Design, Implement, Test, Install, Maintain

3. Prototyping Method

   • It allows the customer to put in some feedback
   • The feedback is taken in, and the product is improved
   • This repeats until the product is satisfactory

4. RAD Method

   • Similar to Prototyping, but with tools in place to rapidly create quality code
   • GUI interface builder is one tool. Make a GUI by dragging and dropping
   • CASE tools, Can rapidly create high quality code.

5. Change

   • After the product is complete, change is required.
   • It is released as an upgrade to the product once completed
