data transfer technologies

data transfer technologies

1. internet

   • global system for communication

2. connecting networks

   • e.g. wired and wireless; public and private

3. networks while mobile

   • 3G, 4G - increasing speed a priority

4. email

   • common business method
     • allows attachments to be sent

5. cloud

   • remote storage
     • cheaper but less security

6. data transfer speed

   • wired faster than wireless

7. bandwidth

   • wider the bandwidth, the faster the transfer speed

8. file compression

   • compressed or zipped files transfer more quickly

9. router technology

   • fibre optic cable gives faster speeds than copper

10. optimisation

    • optimising files (esp images) reduces transfer speed
