1. Arithmetic Logic Unit (ALU)

   • Preforms all calculations all calculations for the CPU

2. Registers

   • Program counter
     • Stores address of next instruction to be run
   • Accumulator
     • Stores results of a calculation
   • Memory Address Register (MAR)
     • Stores the memory address where data/instruction will be fetched/written
   • Memory Data Register (MDR)
     • stores data/instruction which is being fetched/written from/to memory
   • Current Instruction Register
     • Stores the instruction currently being executed

3. Control Unit (CU)

   • Controls flow of data between CPU and other parts of computer system

4. Cache

   • stores frquently used instructions from CPU and other parts of computer system
