Conditional

  1. Sometimes we call them"if clauses". They describe the result of something that might happen or might have happened.

    • There are four main kinds of conditionals
      • The zero conditional
        • This conditional is used when the result will always happen.
          • If + present simple... present simple
            • we can make a zero conditional sentence with two present simple verbs.
              • For example
                • If you touch a fire, you get burned.
                • If babies are hungry, they cry.
                • If people eat too much, they get fat.
      • The first conditional
        • It´s used to talk about things which might happen in the future. Describes possible things, which could easily come true
          • If + present simple.... wiil + infinitive.
            • The first conditional has the present simple after 'if' then the future simple.
              • For example
                • if it rains, I wont go to the park
                • If I study today, I' llgo to the party tonight
                • If I have enoght money, I'll buy somke new shoes.
      • The Second Conditional
        • It has two uses
          • We can use it to talk about things in the future that are probably not going to be true.
            • The second conditional uses the past simple after if, then 'would and the infinitive'
              • If + Past simple... would + infinitive.
                • For example.
                  • If I met the Queen of England, I would say hello
                  • If I won the lottery, I would buy a big house.
          • We can use it to talk about somethinf in the present wich is impossible because it´s not true.
      • The Third Conditional
        • It talks about the past. It´s used to describe a situation that didn´t happen, and to imagune the result of this situation
          • We make the third conditional by using the past perfect after if and then would have and the past perticiple in the second part of the sentence
            • If+ Past perfect.. would + have + past participle
              • For example
                • If she had studied, she would have passed the exam
                • She wouldn't have been tired if she had gone to bed earlier
