Stella Adler Techniques

" In your choice is your talent"

Stella Adler believed that a cratfsmans first prioirity is to "grow", and this is woven into her technique.

For Adler, three important sources of human growth and self cultivation were the study of nature, the study of art and study of history. She often read out poems in class, as she believed "The currency of civilization is art" she believed we must grow through knowledge of architecture, literature, history (watch a man buying a newspaper) and music as well as theatre.

She encouraged her students to watch people, study them, act as "undercover agents".
