Peter:

They seized Jesus, led him away and took him into the house of the high priest

Peter followed at a distance

They had kindled a fire in the courtyard and sat down together, Peter sat down with them

A servant girl recognised Peter and said:

'This man was with him.'

Peter denied:

'Woman, I don't know him.'

A bit later a man recognised Peter and said:

'You are also one of them.'

Peter denied:

'Man, I am not!'

About an hour later someone else recognised him:

'Certainly this fellow was with him, for he is Galilean.'

Peter denied:

''Man, I don't know what you're talking about!'

Just as Peter spoke the rooster crowed

Jesus turned back and looked straight at him

Peter then remembered the word the Lord had spoken:

'Before the rooster crows today, you will disown me three times.'Peter then went outside and wept
