- 2SievingSieving is a simple technique for separating particles of different sizes. Sieves are also used to separate stones form sand.
- 3EvaporationEvaporation is a technique used to separate out homogeneous mixtures where there is one or more dissolved salts. The method drives off the liquid components from the solid components.

- 6CrystallizationCrystallization is a technique used to prurify solids. There are tow common methods that are gradual cooling and diffusion. Gradual cooling dissolves the impure solid in a minimum amount of hot solvent allowing the resulting solution to cool slowly.
- 7FiltrationFiltration is the technique used to separate solids from liquids, the act of pouring a mixture onto a membrane that allows the passage of liquid.
- 8MagnetismMagnetism separation is the process of separating components of mixtures by using magnets to attract magnetic materials. This process detaches non-magnetic material with those who are magneic.
- 9Paper ChromatographyIt is a technique for separating dissolved chemical substances by taking advantage of their different rates of migration across sheets of paper.
- 10CentrifugingCentrifugation separates the components of heterogeneous mixtures that includes: liquids in liquids, solids in liquids, and solid and liquids in gases. It uses centrifugal force to move dens components outside the container.
