Why would a cell need to divide ? To grow or repair
How many chromosomes are found in a human ? 46 chromosomes
Question Text Answer Text
What is the chromosome compliment ? The total number of cells in an animal
What are the stages of mitosis ? 1. Uncoiled chromosomes duplicate 2. The strands of DNA coil up and become chromosomes 3. The chromosome line up at the equator of the nucleus 4.The chromatically are split and pulled to the poles of the cell 5. Separated chromatids join back together and become chromosomes 6. New cell membrane forms to produce 2 daughter cells
What is the importance of maintaining the chromosome number during mitosis ? So the 2 daughter cells can function properly
What is a stem cell? An unspecialised/undifferentiated cell ( doesn’t have a job yet )
What are 2 sources of stem cells Bone marrow and embryonic tissue
What I a specialised/differentiated cell A cell that has a function ( a job )
How is tissue formed ? When a stem cell becomes a specialised cell and forms a tissue
How is and organ formed ? When stem cells become tissue and form and organ
