:Inflation: A sustained increase in the general level of prices in an economy.
:Hyperinflation: Rampant or Runaway inflation in which prices rise so quickly that money becomes almost worthless.
:CPI / Consumer Price Index: A measure of changes in the weighted average price level of a basket of consumer goods and services purchased by a 'typical' household.
:Retail Price Index: A measure of changes in the weighted average retail price of a basket of goods and services purchased by a 'typical' household.
:Base Year: The first year in a price index. In this year the weighted average price level is normally set to 100.
:Indexation: Increasing certain payments, such as welfare payments or public pension, at the same rate as inflation so that their real value or purchasing power is maintained.
