| Command Line Interface | Users type instructions using a special set of words and symbols. Used in the early days of computing and is now only really suitable for skilled IT users as commands need to be known |
| Menu-Driven Interface | A menu of options is displayed and the user selects one of them. More user-friendly than the Command-Line Interface as commands do not need to be remembered. |
| Graphical User Interface (GUI) | Small pictures are used to represent options that the user can select |
| Voice Interface | A microphone is used, into which the user speaks a command to the computer. Sophisticated software analyses the speech patterns and executes the given command. |
| Special Devices | Special devices include things like braille keyboards, 'concept keyboards' with overlays over the keyboard (Like on McDonalds' counters), touch screens, puff-suck and foot devices to allow people with no arms to operate computers. |
