2. Multiply the decimal by the amount to be increased.
e.g. Increase $2700 by 22%
1. Add the percentage increase to 100%. Write as a decimal scale factor

2. Multiply the scale factor by the orginial amount to find a new amount.
E.g

55%=0.55 (divide by 100 to convert to decimal form)

Mark up- the amount added to cost price in order to make profit
Discount- Decrease in the selling price to attract more buyers
GST- Tax 10% extra on price.

100% - 25% = 75
75/100= 0.75
350 multiplied by 0.75 =
$262.50
Eg. 2.
23.20 by 68%
100% + 68%= 168
168/100 = 1.68
23.20 multiplied by 1.68 = 38.98 - 9—
