Muscle Tissue (General features & classification)

Cards in this deck (11)

  1. 1***why muscle cell is unique? (basics contractile structure)*Muscle cells are called; Muscle Fibers.
    = highly differentiated w/ Actin & Myosin Filaments for Contraction
    [via sliding filament theory...]
  2. 2***3 key features of Muscle Tissue- No propper Intracellular Matrix; contains Loose Conective tissue instead.
    - Have many vessels and nerves.
    - there are 3 types of microscopic organization.
  3. 3***Classifying muscles:classifying BY INNERVATION-
    -Voluntary = Skeletal Muscle.
    -Involuntary = SM & CM.
    classifying BY STRIATION-
    -striated= Skeletal & Cardiac.
    -Non = SM.
  4. 4***Myofibril Histogenesis(origin MesoBlast/MesenChyme cells)
    1)...Proliferate&Differentiate = Myoblast
    2)Myoblasts fuse= multinucleate myotubes
    3) myotubes ⇒ Myofibrils
    ~myoblasts that don't fuse= Satelite cells (are reserve stem cells)
  5. 5< Smooth Muscle Ultrastructure >= Elongated & spindle-shaped,
    Mononucleated, with nucleus @ center.
    - contains sarcoplasm with 3 filaments Actin/ Myosin& Intermediate filaments.
    - Dark bodies, join filaments together= stronger contraction.
  6. 6~ Cardiac Muscle Ultrastructure ~=striated ∵ of myofibril arrangement.
    Myofibrils are made up by sarcomeres.
    H Band= thick
    A Band = Dark (thick & thin)
    I Band = Light (thin)... @middle is "Z Line"
    -have (Transverse) T-Tubules to initiate contractions.
  7. 7-- Skeletal Striated Muscle Ultrastructure ---Striated & can be Multi-Nucleated.
    -have a "Basement Membrane" inc; Satelite cells for repair and growth .
    membrane= Sarcolemma
    Lysosome= Sarcosome
    SR- Sarcoplasmic reticulum
    cytoplasm = Sarcoplasm
    Sarcomere = repeat unit for the MyoFibril
    -have (Transverse) T-Tubules to initiate contractions.
    -ATP=main source(+glycogen+lipid droplets)
  8. 8<>=Cellular type of organization.
    *SM-cells have 2 junctions:
    - Zonula Adherens- adhesion between cells
    - Nexus- allow electrical coupling.
    *regulated by Autonomic-NS.
    >Found in Vessels
    >in gut and Bladder, contract to allow peristalsis & emptying the bladder.
  9. 9~~Cardiac Muscle Structure & function~~=Syntical type of organization.
    *3 types = contractile/ pace maker/ endocrine cardiac -cells.
    *intercalated discs:
    -join cells/ pass' impulses & contractions.
    -are made of contacts: Nexus, Desmosomes & zonula adherens.
    *regulated by Autonomic-NS.
    -found @ heart
  10. 10-- Skeletal Striated Muscle Structure & Function --=Symplast type of organization.
    *muscle belly is joint to Bone, via Tendons.
    -Sliding Filament theory... allows Powerfull contractions & relaxation ... to allow powerful movements.
  11. 11SARCOMERE StructureSARCOMERE Structure
