Question Answer
Force A push or pull that causes an object to change its movement or shape.
Magnitude The size of the force
Direction The way the force is being applied
Location Where in an object the force is being applied
Newton The unit for measuring a force
External force A force that is applied to a structure from something else
Mass The amount of matter in an object
Center of gravity The imaginary point in an object where the downward force of gravity acts.
Symmetry a balanced arrangement of mass that occurs around a center
Load An external force on a structure
Static load The weight of a structure and the non-moving load that it supports.
Dynamic load An external force that moves or changes with time.
