Difference between influenza strains The influenza A can be seen in humans, birds and mammals with new strains (drift) and new subtypes (shift) causing epidemics and pandemics. The type b is in humans only, can crate new strains and causes epidemics but can’t create pandemics because can create new subtypes.
Influenza diagnosis If primary clinical, nasopharyngeal swabs for RT-PCR is the gold standard, other is the rapid antigen detection (direct fluorescent antigen)
Influenza treatment Neuraminidase inhibitors: oseltamivir (tamiflu) or zanamivir (relenza) for treatment ant prophylaxis
