Have you had any embarrassing moments? • Pete: Embarrassing moments? Well, yes. Recently I was at a party and I told a joke, but unfortunately it fell flat.
Just kidding An expression used to say “I am just joking”,” I’m not speaking seriously”. Usually after making a funny comment that maybe someone will not understand. • My boyfriend is so tall that when we go out he always says his dating an ant, but his just kidding.
No joke / No laughing matter When you refer to something that is “no joke” or “no laughing matter” means that the situation is serious and there is no reason to laugh about it. • I’m telling you, having a virus in my PC is no joke. I damaged a lot of my files. • The metro was so jammed that at one of the stops, a man fell over me and he just laughed. I looked at him and just said “Being pushed in this jam is no laughing matter.
