Question Answer
What is negative feedback? system that maintains a relatively stable value for body variable such as blood glucose concentration, temperature & water concentration
What is nastic movement? Nastic movement involves the movement of a plant which is independant of the direction of the stimuli.
Niche The role of a species in a community
Mutualism A symbiotic relationship in which two species benefit
Osmoreceptors Nerve cells in the hypothalamus that detect changes in blood concentration and release hormones in response.
Interspecific competition Competition for rescources involving members of different species.
Intraspecific competition Competition for resources involving members of the same species
How do the large thin ears of an elephant help its survival in a desert environment? The elephant's ears have a large SA:V so they can lose heat efficiently.
Define innate behaviour Innate behaviour is genetically determined and is essentially the same in all members of the species.
Define imprinting A form of irreversible learning occuring during the early stages of an animals life.
