4 - Azurre files
Cards in this deck (28)
- 1What is purpose of Azure File and file shares? You configure Azure File shares to provide a central location for the documents. You configure Azure File Sync to keep the information up to data across multiple offices.
- 2Explain file storageFile storage offers shared storage for applications using the industry standard SMB protocol
- 3How Azure virtual machines and cloud services share file?Microsoft Azure virtual machines and cloud services can share file data across application components via mounted shares, and on-premises applications can also access file data in the share.
- 4What are common uses of Azure File Storage?Replace and supplement.
Access anywhere
Lift and shift
Azure File Sync
Shared Applications
Diagnostic Data
Tools and utilities - 5Describe Azure Files.Provides an SMB interface, client libraries, and a REST interface that allows access from anywhere to stored files.
- 6Describe Azure Blobs.Provides client libraries and a REST interface that allows unstructured data to be stored and accessed at a massive scale in block blobs.
- 7When should you use Azure Files? You want to "lift and shift" an application to the cloud that already uses the native file system APIs to share data between it and other applications running in Azure. You want to store development and debugging tools that need to be accessed from many virtual machines.
- 8When should you use Azure Blobs? You want your application to support streaming and random-access scenarios. You want to be able to access application data from anywhere.
- 9What is additional first difference between Azure Files and Blobs?Azure Files are true directory objects. Azure Blobs are a flat namespace.
- 10How Azure File and Blob are accessed?Azure Files are accessed through file shares. Azure Blobs are accessed through a container.
- 11How Azure Files and Blobs are shared?Azure Files provide shared access across multiple virtual machines. Azure disks are exclusive to a single virtual machine.
- 12How Azure File shares can be mounted?Azure File shares can be mounted concurrently by cloud or on-premises deployments of Windows, Linux, and macOS.
- 13What is port number for communicating SMB over TCP?445
- 14What is file share snapshot?Share snapshots capture a point-in-time, read-only copy of your data.
- 15What is restirction related to share snapshot? You cannot delete a share that has share snapshots unless you delete all the share snapshots first.
- 16What does incremental share snapshot mean?Only the data that has changed after your most recent share snapshot is saved. Even though share snapshots are saved incrementally, you need to retain only the most recent share snapshot in order to restore the share.
- 17How can share snapshots be used?To protect against application error and data corruption
To protect against accidental deletions or unintended changes
Regular backup
you can restore previous versions of file - 18How can you access files using protocols on Windows Server?Using SMB, NFS and FTPS
- 19What are uses and advanages of Azure File Sync?lift and shift,
branch offices
backup and disaster recovery
file achiving - 20Explain lift and shift in terms of Azure File SyncThe ability to move applications that require access between Azure and on-premises systems. Provide write access to the same data across Windows Servers and Azure Files. This enables companies with multiple offices have a need to share files with all offices.
- 21Explain branch offices in terms of Azure File Sync?Branch offices need to backup files, or you need to setup a new server that will connect to Azure storage.
- 22Explain Backup and Disaster Recovery in terms of Azure File Sync?Once File Sync is implemented, Azure Backup will back up your on-premises data. Also, you can restore file metadata immediately and recall data as needed for rapid disaster recovery.
- 23Explain file archiving in terms of Azure File Sync?Only recently accessed data is located on local servers. Non-used data moves to Azure in what is called Cloud Tiering.
- 24Explain cloud tieringCloud tiering is an optional feature of Azure File Sync in which frequently accessed files are cached locally on the server while all other files are tiered to Azure Files based on policy settings. When a file is tiered, the Azure File Sync file system replaces the file locally with a pointer, or reparse point.
- 25What is reparse point? The reparse point represents a URL to the file in Azure Files.
- 26What happens when a user opens tiered file? When a user opens a tiered file, Azure File Sync seamlessly recalls the file data from Azure Files without the user needing to know that the file is actually stored in Azure.
- 27How Cloud tiering files is distinguished?Cloud Tiering files will have greyed icons with an offline O file attribute to let the user know the file is only in Azure.
- 28What is Storagelater
