Chemistry As-Level Flash Cards (Quiz thing)

Description

I am not sure if these are any help at all to people but please give me feedback about stuff as I am going to be using this site for like 2 years until my A levels are over. Also if there is a correction that needs to be made please message me.

Question Answer
2Na+O ---> NaO Draw the Dot and Cross diagram and state what is meant by the term Ionic bonding? Ionic bonding is an electrostatic attraction between two oppositely charge ions.
State the Mass, Electric Charge and Location for a: Proton, Neutron and an Electron
What is an Isotope and how can we find out about them? To find an isotope use a Mass Spectrometer. An isotope dach of two or more forms of the same element that contain equal numbers of protons but different numbers of neutrons in their nuclei, and hence differ in relative atomic mass but not in chemical properties; in particular, a radioactive form of an element
What has the strongest covalent bond strength between a Pi Bond and a Sigma Bond. Explain your answer? A SIGMA BOND will form the strongest covalent bond because it has DIRECT OVERLAP, whilst a pi bond only has SIDEWAYS OVERLAP meaning it is weaker.
Name the general formula for working out an alkene? CnH2n (This formula can be used to work out any alkene formula and is really handy)
What does: Atomic Number(Z) Mass Number Isotopes mean? The Atomic number(Z) of an element is the number of protons and neutrons in an element. The Mass Number of an atom is the Sum of the number of protons and the number of neutrons in the nucleus of an atom. Isotopes are the same atom just with a different amount of neutrons.
The relative atomic mass of an element is the weighted mean mass of an atom of the element compared to 1/12 the mass of an atom of the Carbon-12, which has a mass of 12. Turn flash card over. The relative isotopic mass is the mass of an isotope of the element compared 1/12 mass of an atom of Carbon-12, which has a mass of 12.
What is the ratio of chlorine ions? Chlorine-35 75% 25% Chlorine-37 3:1
Ionic compounds have a high? Melting Point
In many cases ionic compounds are ... in H2O? Explain. Soluble. This happens because water is a polar molecule. The oxygen end is slightly negative and is attracted to the negative ions, while hydrogen is slightly positive and is attracted to the negative ions.
