Question Answer
Positives & Negatives of Plastics Positives: - Can be moulded & coloured into anything - Cheap to produce - Recyclable Negatives: - Pollutes in prodiction - Not heat-resistant - Non-renewable
Different types of Variables Control variables are the things that are kept the same. Independent variable is the thing you are testing. Dependent variable is the thing that you change & the factor you will measure.
How to find the Density Density is found by dividing the mass by volume. D = m/v
What is an element? An element is a pure substance made of only one type of atom. It cannot be broken down into simpler substances
What is the function of the nucleus? The nucleus controls cell activities and stores DNA.
What is the function of the cytoplasm? The cytoplasm is the watery substance containing sugars and salts inside the cell.
What is the function of the vacuole? The vacuole is the fluid filled space inside the cell.
What is the function of the cell wall/cell membrane? The cell wall (plants) gives shape and protects the cell. The cell membrane controls the movement of substances in and out of the cell and protect the cell.
What is a mineral? A mineral is a naturally occurring compound.
Define weathering and erosion. Weathering is the chemical or physical breakdown of rocks. Erosion is the removal of weathered rocks by water, wind and ice.
How do organs, tissues, cells and systems intertwine? Tissues are a group of cells working together to perform a certain task in. Organs are made up of different tissues and organs work together in a system.
What do ammeters and voltmeters do? Ammeters measure the electric current running through a circuit. Voltmeters measure the potential difference between two points in a circuit.
Benefits and limitations of scientific models - Can relay ideas clearly - Allow for predictions to be made - Give insight into something - Not reality - Often not to scale
Chemical VS Physical reactions A chemical reaction is a reaction between two substances that produces a new substance. Often hard to reverse. A physical reaction is a reaction that produces no new substances.
What is a molecule? A molecule is a two or more atoms joined together by chemical bonds.
What is a mixture? A mixture is a combination of different atoms or molecules which can be broken down into its elements.
What is a compound? A compound is a pure substance made up of a combination of different elements in a fixed ratio which can be broken down into its elements by chemical reactions.
